From Ledger-Enquirer Nov. 7th, 2006Wetherington Wins Mayoral RaceFormer police chief Jim Wetherington will become Columbus' 11th mayor since consolidation, after unseating Bob Poydasheff 54 percent to 46 percent, in a surprisingly one-sided race for the city's top elected office. Of 31,759 votes cast in the city's 48 precincts Tuesday, Wetherington won the race going away with 17,039 votes to Poydasheff's 14,668. Despite a light rain early in the day, voter turnout was 43.5 percent -- consistent with projections. |
